HOW DOES THE ALFA ROMEO Q4 ALL-WHEEL SYSTEM WORK?
Posted on July 6, 2023
Alfa Romeo vehicles offer an uncompromised performance with their available powertrain systems, automatic transmission, detailed craftsmanship, adaptive suspension and future-forward design. All the latest model lineup from the brand comes equipped with a unique Q4 all-wheel drive system, providing tailored traction to get you through challenging road surfaces safely and easily. Alfa Romeo’s Q4 system not only provides stability over tricky terrains but also reserves energy and preserves fuel whenever possible. Unleash more about the functionality of this performance-focused all-wheel system with the experienced technicians at Alfa Romeo of Oakville.
Alfa Romeo Q4 AWD
The Q4 AWD provides an optimum level of safety on roads covered with snow, mud, sand or gravel without compromising the driving ability of the Alfa Romeo vehicles. Mostly, the vehicles run on the standard rear-wheel system. But once the loss of traction is detected, the Q4 system automatically takes over and engages torque distribution for more grip. The system has employed the Active Transfer Case (ATC) that monitors real-time driver inputs and monitors grip conditions to enhance performance and stability wherever required. It transfers up to 50 percent of the engine torque to all four wheels via lightweight and compact front and rear differentials.
Alfa Romeo’s Q4 all-wheel system ensures that traction is maximum on slippery, sloppy, muddy and icy roads, increasing vehicle handling — and, if needed in extreme conditions — stabilizing it before the electronic brake stability control gets activated without impairing performance.
DNA Drive Mode Selector
Besides the Q4 AWD system, Alfa Romeo vehicles — including Stelvio, Giulia and Tonale —- feature a meticulously designed DNA drive mode selector system. This advanced system lets you customize all your rides depending on the road and weather conditions. The 2023 Stelvio Quadrifoglio and Giulia Quadrifoglio feature a trim-exclusive drive mode — Race — that transforms the SUVs into high-performing sports cars. It also activated the overboost function to elevate engine torque for enhanced traction and acceleration for flawless race track vibes. Drivers can also switch to the Advanced Efficiency Mode when looking for more responsive handling and traction on tricky road surfaces without compromising fuel efficiency.
